About Jay

Jay Yang is an entrepreneur, investor, author, and media strategist. He writes The Spark, a weekly newsletter about marketing, strategy, and personal growth.

When he was 16, he cold-emailed Tyler Denk, CEO of beehiiv, with a list of ideas on how he could help. That message turned into an internship where he built beehiiv101, a course that's helped thousands of users unlock the platform's potential.

At 17, he sent Noah Kagan, founder of AppSumo a 19-page pitch deck breaking down gaps in his social and email marketing and how to fix them. That landed him a role as Head of Content, where he led campaigns (like the one that made Million Dollar Weekend, a New York Times bestseller).

At 18, he scaled a boutique ghostwriting and creative studio helping founders and CEOs across multiple industries grow their online presence, shape their narrative, and turn content into pipeline.

At 19, he dropped out of college to work at Acquisition.com on Alex & Leila Hormozi's media team. There, he helped run the marketing campaign for $100M Money Models which broke a Guinness World Record and generated $106M in 3 days. In the same year, he self-published his first book You Can Just Do Things, which became an Amazon best-seller.

These days, he writes books on breaking free of the default scripts that control our lives, consults founders and CEOs on creative strategy, and runs marketing for 2049 Ventures.

When he's not working, you'll find him:

  • Playing pickup basketball at the local gym.
  • Picking up and putting down heavy things (roughly 10-12 times).
  • Working on his second book (you can read his first one here).
  • Wearing his swag merch 😎
  • Hanging with family and friends.
